A few notes and thoughts. Just like many of us have multiple purposes in our lives, so do we have many goals. Many of our goals do fall into one of two general objectives:: 1. We are pursuing / approaching something or 2. we are attempting to prevent / avoid something. When we are pursuing / approaching many times we fail to think or dream big enough. When we are / preventing and avoiding something, in many cases we don’t want to lose what we have and are just thinking defensively. The difference is as stark as “I want to get a raise” vs “I don’t want to get fired”. This is offence vs. defense, active vs. passive. Active should alway press the boundary of imagination, and when playing defense, the ultimate goal needs to be actively moving forward to advance the game. You don’t win playing defense. To look at what you really want, we would ask that you think through: What do you value most in your life? What is the most valuable thing you have? What significant outcome do you want to achieve personally, professionally? If you could make three significant changes to your life in the next 3 months what would they be?
