Procrastination is one of the most common and deadliest of diseases and its toll on success and happiness is heavy. – Dyer
A few notes and thoughts. Our primary channel of the avoidance of pain — is just don’t do it. But of course there’s always a good reason. Not the right time, not the right mindset… The overload and stimuli presented to us today is more tempting than ever. Mobile phones, apps and there countless diversions present challenges to procrastination which are not only at our fingertips, but more tempting than ever. We can with a click of a mouse be fed an enormous amount of virtual “empty calories”. The problem is that procrastination doesn’t counter stress, but buries it — prolonging suffering. This delay creates a corrosive underlying stress, with eventually results in you lashing out or stuffing it — which is truly unhealthy. A subconscious stress. Much like a stuffed or ignored feeling, it becomes buried and festers. Not that just doing it now, is the prescription for everything, but it is more generally the rule than the exception. Part of feeling overwhelmed is simply being behind. Procrastination amplifies this.
