“fatigue makes cowards of us all”. – Roosevelt
We have simply accepted overextension as a way of life. Not only have our jobs become more challenging, technology has further blurred the lines between work and life. We’re drowning in stimuli. This leads us to an emotional exhaustion. This weakens us to the point of reducing our sense of accomplishment as well as becoming withdrawn and disengaged. We find ourselves struggling and fighting back in a manner which achieves one step forward and two steps back. We need to find new tools, methods and perspectives to change our actions and/or our environment — at the very minimum moving two steps forward and only one step back — and “failing forward” in every step we take. On a basic level there are too many tasks and not enough time in the day. Often when people visit us they are seeking clarity — as to priority to what is next right thing for me to do today / where are the areas to focus on today. Overload and exhaustion, amplifies fear, skews perspectives, and diminishes clarity and awareness.
